DRAW, not much fitba, could have gone either way with a break.
Often overused about goalless draws, but definitely the case about events between Stranraer and Dumbarton.
There was plenty of effort from each side, with Sons striving for a second consecutive win to follow up their previous outing against Forfar.
But the longer this game went on, the more apparent it became that a point was all either side would take, barring something bizarre or inspired.
Neither happened, and Dumbarton made the long trip back with a point gained at a ground where, on many occasions, they haven't even taken that. Not to mention their first league clean sheet of the season. Ups and downs and all that.
Much was hoped for from Adam Frizzell and it was he who gave the game its first spark after six minutes. His low 20-yard shot was on target but the home keeper was equal to it.
He was also on form seven minutes later to keep out Isaac Layne's shot at close range after a free kick dropped his way.
Action followed at the other end, but a vital interception by Stuart Carswell denied Andy Stirling a tap-in from James Hilton's low ball back on 18 minutes.
It then looked as if the opener may have come in identical circumstances to the Forfar game. Joe McKee's corner found Morgyn Neill, but this time the defender's header was pawed away by the keeper.
Then it was back to Conor Brennan's goal, where he did well to turn away Hilton's low shot.
And after a neat exchange of passes by Stranraer four minutes from half time, Hilton again tested Brennan, who smothered the shot before Cammy Elliott could put it away.
The second half was initially short on quality but a low ball by McKee on 62 minutes almost changed it around. A defender cleared it from danger only to hit a team-mate who deflected it behind.
McKee then tried a 20-yard free kick which the keeper beat away, and Layne shot wide from close range. It was becoming frustrating.
The second half continued with plenty of effort, but precious little that either side could come up with that resembled a goal.
That was until the second minute of injury time when Matthew Shiels' header from a corner looped towards goal, but the keeper held on.
